It is difficult to apply (red light)
No, it is difficult to apply
evenly.
The emulsion has roughly the consistency of tinned milk.
Red light: Dark red for approx. 5 minutes.
How long is the drying time?
That is irrelevant. More important is the
curing time of several days.
What about the shelf life?
Which one?
The emulsion in the bottle or the finished product?
Emulsion: About 1 year in the fridge. Shorter once opened.
Finished product: With perfect processing and a chemically inert substrate, about as long as a black-and-white photograph.
Do I need to treat (prime) the substrate beforehand?
That depends. With fabric, it’s probably worth pre-treating it with gelatin first, as you’ll then need less emulsion, but it isn’t essential.
