Peckham Hello everyone, I accidentally exposed a roll of the scarce CHS II at 400 ISO. Does anyone here have any suggestions or experience regarding which combination of exposure time and developer I could use to still get usable results? Many thanks, Peter
TR Hello, I assume you’re talking about the CHS 100. What you’ve obviously done isn’t ‘exposed at 400 ISO’, but rather you simply ‘gave’ the film too little light – in this case, about 2 stops – as you’d probably calibrated the light meter incorrectly. Your shadow detail will be lost in many places. No developer can ‘magic’ that back. Now you’ll just have to use a longer development time to at least push the mid-tones and highlights back ‘up’ so that you don’t have to select grade 5 straight away when enlarging. However, if you were to digitise the film, you could actually save yourself the trouble of ‘pushing’: you can adjust the gradient of the image much better on a computer. This does, of course, require some knowledge and the right software.
hallertauBW Hi Peter, ? Spur SLD states a push development at 400 ASA. I haven’t tried this myself yet. You won’t find this information on darkroom-solution or digitaltruth.com. See here: http://spur-photo.com/datenblatt-spur-sld/ ? Best regards, Guido
