Stagirit
I developed a roll of Neopan 400 the other day, and when I went to make prints yesterday, I noticed using the focusing loupe that the negative looked a bit odd.
It’s like grain, only incredibly fine, but the cells around the crystals are clearly damaged. In the shadows, it looks like a latent image. In the highlights, there are bright edges between the crystals.
I rinsed the film with Kaskade and monitored the temperature. I got a phone call in the middle of it, and it’s possible that this caused it to be over-rinsed.
In any case, I’ve never had such a fine grain before; it’s only noticeable during enlargement.
Well, Kaskade is convenient, but I think I’ll give it a miss next time.
Or could it have happened during drying?
Because I don’t actually use a film dryer (just distilled water, wetting agent and then hanging it up).
