Which film?

Vielleicht könnt ihr mir da helfen: Ich suche einen Film, der von der Rotempfindlichkeit dem TriX* ähnlich ist und den ich nach Möglichkeit 2 Blenden pushen...

Perhaps you can help me with this: I’m looking for a film that’s similar to TriX* in terms of red sensitivity and which I can push by 2 stops, if possible, without it blowing out. In terms of image characteristics, it should have sharpness and a yellow cast that doesn’t produce clouds (as with all thin-film stocks). *Green should appear almost black in the print.

Well, here’s what bothers me about TriX: ? I’ve no idea how much longer this film will be available. ? It really gets on my nerves having to throw my hard-earned money at Kodak for film that’s far too expensive, just so they can go and make a digital camera. And I fancy trying something different for a change.

Kodak isn’t necessarily expensive, at least not more expensive than Ilford and Fuji, depending on where you buy it; and Fuji makes digital cameras too. How long will the film be around? – You never know with any film.

And I fancy trying something different for a change.

Then go for a Fomapan 400; it looks completely different (without being any worse). Roland

Thanks for the information; I’ll stick with Tri-X for the time being. Given that Tri-X has been around for almost half a century now, one can only hope that Kodak will keep it in production for a while longer. My great-grandfather used to take photos with Tri-X and Panatomic (which apparently is now only available for aerial photography), though I do wonder how he managed to get hold of it during the war years.
