Hi Mirko,
You mention in the catalogue that maco films are being phased out and will soon only be available through the (more exclusive) Rollei range? Will the PO100c still be available in any form, or will it be discontinued without a replacement?
Best regards, Frank.

Frank,
From what I’ve heard, the PO100 and other Macos are a thing of the past. If you’re looking for an affordable and remarkably similar replacement, go for the Efke R50. In every respect – grain, reversibility, speed, sensitisation, and even its origins – it’s very similar to the Stapelfelder.
It’s only on price that you’ll have to make some compromises. Although you’re certainly free to round up in Mirko’s favour. ,->

Roman,
Thanks for the quick reply. I’ve also heard that the Macos are better Efkes, BUT: what then explains the (alleged) difference in resolution (approx. 90 lpmm vs. 260 lpmm)?? Not to mention the PET base. Aren’t these actually quite different films after all?
Frank.

Frank,

I haven’t.

Guess: Different perspectives or different weightings in the evaluation?

The Efkes are currently on PET too. Precisely because a ‘non-Berlin customer’ got his way with his demand for a crystal-clear base.
>Aren’t these actually quite different films?
I don’t think so. Give the Efke a go, it’s quite good.

Are you sure that Maco PO100c is just Efke 50 rebranded? I always thought the PO100c was an Efke 100. That would make more sense given the stated nominal speed, wouldn’t it?
