Hi,
There are many interesting items in the FOTOIMPEX German catalogue that Retrophotographic doesn’t stock in the UK. As these are likely to be one-off purchases, can I buy them directly from Germany?

Dear Barry,
One of the main reasons we partnered with Retro is that we could no longer secure competitive shipping rates for parcels to the UK.
Royal Mail managed, on average, to lose one in every two parcels, and it took them up to nine months to admit it. In the end, both we and the customer were left out of pocket with no refunds for six months or more.
A major disaster for us and the customers.
All private parcel services seem to be blocked by a state monopoly in the UK held by Royal Mail if shipments are addressed to private individuals, so in the end we had to either cease service to the UK or find a local distributor.
If you ask Nigel from Retro about occasional purchases of items featured in our catalogue that he doesn’t stock, I’m sure he’ll manage to arrange something for you, and we’ll pop the items in with the next bulk shipment to Retro.
