Hello,
Perhaps you could help me with this?
A friend of mine has some fairly old laboratory equipment from former US Army stock.
It includes, amongst other things, timers and an enlarger (I suspect for large format). I reckon the items are more than 40 years old; everything is covered in dust to varying degrees.
I’ve only had a very cursory look at the items so far and haven’t been able to test whether they work. I reckon all the items, if anything, are of historical value. I’ll get hold of the exact product names next time.
I’d hate to simply throw these things away out of ignorance. So if you know anyone who could make use of such historical cultural artefacts , please let me know. In the meantime, I’d also like to get in touch with the Film Museum in Frankfurt. Unfortunately, I missed the last flea market in my region (the Rhine-Main area). Where else could I look (perhaps in photography clubs)?
Best regards and many thanks in advance.
Holger

Holger,
I don’t want to dash your hopes, but this time last year we took about 250 enlargers from US Army stocks to the scrap dealer.
They all had only minor faults; strictly speaking, they weren’t fully functional, but even for €10 they’ve been unsellable for the last seven years.
He gave us €2.50 for them.
Anything that no longer works: straight in the bin.
There’s about a thousand times more supply than demand.
If it still works, you can sell it on eBay.
Regards,
Mirko

Hi Mirko,
Thank you very much for your reply; that’s a great help.
I can now clear out the clutter without feeling guilty at all.
Best regards

If these are GF enlargers:
I’m looking for one... where might I have a look at one?

Holger,
Before you clear out your stuff, I’m definitely interested and I’m travelling halfway across Germany anyway, so
