...right here in our lovely forum.
With the new gallery feature, every registered member can set up their own photo gallery.
Once it’s set up, you can view it from any internet connection and even display it as a slideshow.
You can also add comments to the images (such as development details) and choose whether it should be a private or public gallery.
Public galleries can be viewed by anyone, and you can vote on the images and send them as postcards, for example.
Menu item: “Image Gallery” at the top right of the grey bar where our logo is located.
Please resize all images to a maximum of 150 DPI, 10x10 cm, and compress them to JPG. We currently only have 200 MB of server space available for this.
The new server won’t be ready for another week or so, and then the forum will be moving lock, stock and barrel.
From then on, you’ll be able to upload whatever your internet connection allows – we’ll then have 120 gigabytes to fill.
However, you must still select images that have already been downscaled. The software can’t handle a 2 MB image!
We welcome every contribution, but there are a few rules:
1) The recording medium must have been chemical film. There are already plenty of other digital photography forums ;-)
2) Art may be stimulating to the senses, but posting lowbrow pornographic images here is not welcome and will be deleted. However, this does not preclude the presentation of artistically valuable, high-quality nude photography. It would also be conceivable for photographic models to introduce themselves here with a small gallery so that they can be booked.
3) No image needs to be larger than 40x40cm at 72 DPI, as the screen and graphics card for that would still need to be built. Please use storage space sparingly.
And now, enjoy the new feature.
Mirko
PS
Please don’t vote on my sample gallery. I just quickly uploaded whatever was on my hard drive.

...I've just noticed that the scroll bar sometimes freezes on the grey layout.
If necessary, you'll have to make do with the blue layout (switch at the bottom left) for a few more days.
I need to find the HTML for the scaling first...
Otherwise, just resize the browser window and the scroll bar will reappear.

Wow, that's brilliant – I'll have to fire up the scanner this weekend and pop a few prints in...!

Mirko,
Good idea.
Is it actually possible to add technical details or descriptions to your photo, or does nobody just do that?
Of course, you could do that as the first comment under your own photo, but I’d find that a bit odd.
Roland
MirkoBoeddecker
No, you can do that when you’re uploading it.
You can add a caption and a description.
That’s exactly what makes it so exciting for our forum.
The second gallery has that. It says ‘TriX 400’ up by the stairs.
As I said, I just quickly uploaded something that was still on my hard drive from the catalogue production. I need to scan some new material myself first to really make something of it.

Mirko

Oh, the pictures are lovely.

Oh, is commenting fun?

Oh, too late...
Hopefully we’ll be operating at a higher level than a photo community here.
Bye

Of course, it’s impossible to say in advance what level we’ll be working at, but it would be great if participants made serious use of this feature.
For example, anyone who, after days of fiddling about, has produced their first really good lith print is more than welcome to present it here and receive praise or constructive criticism.
If we’re lucky, we’ll end up with plenty of good ideas for everyone.
New ways of expressing ourselves that broaden our horizons.
I certainly believe our members are capable of this.
Not everyone has the privilege of living in Berlin, where a small photo gallery awaits on every corner, ready to showcase new discoveries.
Perhaps someone might even be discovered through this very forum gallery.
I would be delighted if this feature proved as useful as possible – hence the reminder that photographers and models can showcase their portfolios here, complete with contact details, so that commissions can come in.
On an open platform without lots of flashing adverts on the side – and, last but not least, completely free of charge.
Mirko
PS Personally, I’d like to disable this ‘rating’ feature, but unfortunately that’s not possible – though I might be able to tweak it so that there’s only one option, effectively disabling it ;-)

Mirko,
That really was a great idea, but unfortunately it seems you invited everyone over for raspberry pudding, and the only thing Frank can think to say is that he would have preferred chocolate.
As we all know, ingratitude is the world’s reward.
I’m deliberately staying anonymous so I don’t end up in the doghouse!
Best wishes

Hi there.

Where exactly did I complain about anything or say I wanted it any other way?
I’m deliberately staying anonymous so I don’t get dragged through the mud here!

Now you’re being childish, whoever you are. Grumbling, but not standing by it.

Frank,
Here too, you have to really hammer home the irony to some readers. Don’t let it get to you.
I think the idea of simply posting sample images is a good one, but I can see the ‘fc’ hanging over us like the sword of Damocles. Oh well. If it comes to it, Mirko’ll end up with a bit more on his plate than he’s currently dreaming of.
Let’s see how quickly the forum *and* gallery function fill up the 12GB :-)
Best regards,
Franz
MirkoBoeddecker
120 GB – did I write 12?
Mirko

No, but I forgot to add a zero.

I'm having trouble logging in or staying logged in...
I was just trying to create a gallery, which I managed to do, and I was even able to upload two pictures, but I kept being asked for my username and password... Also, it doesn't say my username next to the gallery now, but 'Guest', and I can't view the pictures either... :(

Until the forum has moved, please go to www.fotoimpex.de/forum instead of fotolaborforum.de.
You’ll also need to enable cookies in your security settings.
Try turning off your firewall and see if that helps.
In this case, it was down to the firewall settings.
Just upload the images again if things are working better now.
The thumbnails are there, but not the actual image... strange :(
Best regards,
Mirko
Arthur
Thanks, Mirko, it works with the other link! :(

Arthur,
Great website!
