Dear Forum,
I need to take some concert photos soon, and because of the difficult lighting conditions (spotlight, but not bright enough for 400 ISO), my usual solution for high ISO (HP5/ADOX CHM400 pushed to 1600 ISO) isn’t an option, as I’d then have to expect a loss of the already limited grey tones. In other words, I need 1600 ISO, but as soft as possible. Neopan is out of the question because it has to be roll film, so that leaves Ilford Delta 3200.
Which developer would you recommend for this? Grain isn’t a problem; it’s all about the grey tones. I currently have ATM 49, Rodinal and Fomadon LQN in stock and have tested them. Would any of these be suitable? Or should I go out and buy a developer specifically for this film?
Many thanks in advance,
Samuli

Of the developers you have, A49 is probably the best option – I use it with TMax 3200 for concert photos; I couldn’t really get on with Delta 3200, but with medium format you don’t have a choice...

Hi Samuli,
I’ve tried this with undiluted Microphen and got decent results; I didn’t note down the times, so I’m going by the data sheet.
Otherwise, I agree with Roman – I prefer the TMZ in A49, though unfortunately it’s not available in 120 format.
It makes me wonder whether MF is really suitable in this case, or whether KB wouldn’t be the better choice.

Hello!
Ilford Delta 3200 plus Tetenal Emofin, 9 minutes per sheet, 3-second stop bath. Tried it out recently – worked well.
