When will the Pola 665 be back in stock?

See you! ;)

Philippe,
The forum isn’t really the right place for these questions.
I know I’ve replied to various other enquiries here before, but those usually concern ‘our’ products – that is, ADOX, Foma, Classic, etc.
The FOTOIMPEX staff in the order processing department aren’t obliged to read or post here on the forum – they simply don’t have the time for that.
Polaroid is purely a service provided by FOTOIMPEX for its customers.
Polaroid itself is too arrogant to even speak to us (they reply to neither emails, letters nor faxes), and the relevant wholesalers offer us only a “starvation margin” on these products, which is so low that we lose money on every roll of film sold if I start allocate labour costs, rent, advertising costs etc. to this product group.
That’s why we can’t spend hours on the phone chasing up every roll of film.
If it’s out of stock at ‘our’ Polaroid wholesaler and on back order, we wait until it comes back in.
Didn’t you get a reply from the girls about this?
Best regards,
Mirko

In France, people are saying (www.galerie-photo.com/petition-polaroid) that Polaroid has stopped producing 665 film. Is that true?

Unfortunately, there’s not much I can say about that.
Polaroid is the most arrogant company I’ve ever come across in my entire business career.
They won’t even talk to us. You only get a Polaroid customer number if you place an initial order worth over 1 million USD, and then you’re allowed to buy at a 3% discount on the retail price set by the discounters.
Everyone else is fobbed off, regardless of their business model.
When buying wholesale, I pay the same prices that any end customer can pay at various discounters, and Polaroid is so arrogant that they won’t even tell you which wholesaler to contact if they don’t supply retailers themselves.
Conclusion: We sell all Polaroid films in the catalogue at cost price.
So it’s purely a service for our customers that only costs us money. That’s why we don’t go out of our way to source items if something isn’t in stock.
And unfortunately, communication is also non-existent with those arrogant lot at Polaroid.
I could just check the website now, just like you.
Regards,
Mirko

665 still hasn't been delivered; I'm afraid Philippe is right... :-(

The Polaroid website states:
"Please note that Polaroid will be discontinuing the 665 film during the first half of 2006, as certain components used in its manufacture are being phased out."
So apparently there is certainly a market for 665, but components are lacking. Unfortunately, we will probably have to get used to this sort of thing more often in the future.
664 and 667 are still available, but without a negative. Large format with a negative (that’s 55) will continue to be produced. The question is, of course, whether 665 will be produced again or whether that’s the end of it. I hope it’s the former, as I’ll be relying on medium format for at least another six months (while I wait to save enough money for large format) and I’d also need a few 665s.
