Dear forum members, The forum will be taken offline shortly as we need to update to the new version. You may recall that our website was hacked just over a week ago – the forum was to blame for this because it has a backdoor. Certain troublemakers have taken advantage of this to cause mischief. As our countermeasures (blocking forum administration) are inconvenient and unreliable, we will be upgrading to IBP2 shortly. This may result in the forum being offline for a longer period. There is also a risk that the new design won’t fit our lovely forum properly, leaving it looking different or even unusable afterwards, and only displaying content in English. In the event of a major disaster, we may even have to restore the backup, in which case, unfortunately, all posts written from NOW (1 September 2005, 17:30) until this evening (1 September 2005, 20:00) will be lost. So perhaps just read today and wait until tomorrow to post again (that’s now in the past!). FOTOIMPEX

...and that’s exactly how it turned out. Unfortunately, the forum is now only in English :( We’re working on it! FOTOIMPEX +++ but at least it’s up and running, so you can get back to posting away.

Things are moving forward! 1) We’ll be gradually re-translating the language sets --> You can already switch to German (bottom left on the front page when you’re logged in as a member), but not everything the forum displays is in German yet. 2) We’ve upgraded our storage and processing power. Great. Just out of curiosity: is it intentional that headings are always in capital letters in the new version too, or am I just being daft? Philipp

Well, I’m actually of the completely opposite opinion – I was really taken aback when I saw the new layout; I thought I’d accidentally ended up in a forum for computer nerds... Roman

When does it decide to capitalise headings on its own? But I’m afraid that’s just a quirk of the English language and can’t be changed.... Roman: The old version had a few different layouts, and I chose the one with the fewest colours. It doesn’t seem to be an option anymore. But we can’t go back because of the security vulnerabilities in the old version. Why not try the ‘Simple view’ (you can switch to it at the bottom) – I think it looks better – but unfortunately it doesn’t have the full range of features. Best regards, Mirko

So the server runs just as fast or slow as before, and we’d already enabled GZIP back then. In terms of speed, nothing should really have changed. I’ve already got used to the blue – I’m actually starting to quite like it...... Mirko :(
