Dear Forum,
Efke provides processing times for various developers. Can these developers be bought anywhere, or are they simply formulas?
According to the catalogue, FOTOIMPEX doesn’t stock them.
Many thanks,
Otto

Hello Otto,
I haven’t actually read these recipes, but I don’t think they’re authentic; or perhaps they’re simply ‘run-of-the-mill formulas’ like D76, which were also replicated by Efke for the Yugoslav domestic market.
Efke itself can no longer produce the chemicals because certain proprietary components are no longer available.
That is also the reason why we have not sold them since 1998.
Best regards,
Mirko

Mirko,
That was about the most record-breaking statement since the birth of Brian/Schroeder.
The recipes for the ‘old ADOX films’, complete with a wide range of test results (which makes sense, as you really should test these things out), can be found in Prof. Dr Otto Croy’s standard reference work for those who wish to make their own developer.
Alternatively, from the ready-made solution range, I’d simply recommend the standard recommendation with Rodinal, at least for the Efke 50. That works a treat. For once, we’ve got honest development times, not the kind of drivel recommended by marketing-obsessed people for “German” films.
BTW: (and now to the real reason for my reply)
Mirko: *How* on earth is it possible that, to this day, I still haven’t received any reply to my order of 27 June sent by email?
No confirmation of receipt, no word on availability, simply nothing! Even a Mediamarkt manages that better. Or even Boesner as an art supplies shop.
Just for the record: I placed the following binding order:
- one roll of Fine Print Vario Classic, 30.5 cm wide, 85 m long, for €159.
- 4x "AS143" thread adapters at the catalogue price from back then.
- A note regarding my absence in September.
- Specification of the invoice amount of
