Hi there,
It arrived today – my new AP red-light lamp. I hung it on the wall about 1.2 metres above my workstation. Then came the veil test: I conducted an exposure of a 10 x 15 cm sheet of Fomaspeed Variant III for one second (which produces a light grey) and then placed a few objects on the sheet. After six minutes, I developed the sheet. The result was disappointing; the objects were clearly visible. I then hung the light on the opposite wall of my darkroom; it is now almost 2 m away from my workstation and still causes veiling. According to the packaging, the bulb is 10 W. Are there any lower-wattage bulbs available for this light?
Bye
Frank

Hi Frank,
I don’t know about that. But I’m increasingly glad that I haven’t got caught up in the hype surrounding the latest Duka lighting and am still using my ancient 1950s tin bowl with the Agfa logo on it. From Saturday, it’ll have a Conrad 220V LED spotlight in it, and thanks to the filter in front of it, it’ll still do the job. But it won’t be guzzling 25W from the socket anymore, and I won’t be crying out for a new bulb every six months in the middle of a Duka session.
Picked it up at Strombucht for just under 5 EGM.
Does anyone still need the yellow-green filter that came with it back then? It’s still lying around here and hasn’t been used since I bought it (so it’s basically five years younger than the time between production and today :-)
Best regards,
Franz
