Hi!
A few days ago, I developed a roll film of Classicpan 400 in R09 using a rotary processor. At first glance, the negatives look OK. However, when you enlarge them, you can see scattered tiny black dots, particularly in uniform areas (such as the sky). It seems the emulsion is damaged, I suspect. I found a few suggestions on the FOTOIMPEX website: acetic acid stop bath instead of citric acid, slower rotation or hand development, hardening additive,...
However, I don’t want to go to the trouble of testing each of these options (I don’t have any hardener at home and would have to order some first...).
Does anyone have experience with this problem and know the specific cause or solution?
Many thanks

Marco,
Are the black spots on the negative or the positive?
Are the edges uneven or circular?
Are they completely black or just lighter?
Best regards,
Mirko

The black dots are in the positive. They are completely black and irregular in shape (i.e. not circular).
Kind regards,

Hmmmm....sounds like a processing issue.
Coating issues include air bubbles (circular) or streaks, as the coating is applied horizontally onto moving substrates.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any other advice apart from what’s mentioned above:
Don’t exceed a temperature of 20 degrees, don’t use a stop bath that’s too concentrated, switch from the rotation process to careful tilting, and see if that resolves the issue.
