Hello,
The catalogue mentions that the Ilford XP2 is likely to be discontinued altogether. Do we know any more details yet? It was never my favourite film, but for certain purposes it’s simply incredibly handy.
Best regards

Hi!
I read (I think it was in FOTO MAGAZIN) that the XP2 is set to remain on sale, but the SFX is to be discontinued.
So far, I’ve still been able to get the XP2 from my dealer, but it’s actually become quite difficult to get hold of the SFX. In the meantime, though, I’ve switched to the Maco Cube 400c anyway, and I have to say it’s similar to the SFX – for me, the results are actually quite a bit better (purely subjectively) than the SFX.
I’ll have a look to see if I can find the article. Perhaps there’s more detail about the XP2 in there.
Regards
Mehmet
P.S: I also tried the Kodak BW 400 CN alongside the XP2 at first. But I think it’s absolutely rubbish...
Unfortunately, at €2.50 in the local DM store, it’s a fair bit cheaper than the XP2.
Sigh….

Hi Mehmet,
I feel much the same way about the Kodak as you do. It’s not much fun to use; you might as well forget about it on black-and-white paper.
Incidentally, the SFX has never been easy to get hold of – at least not through my local dealer, even though he really did try his best,

Hi!
I’ve found the article. It was in issue no. 3 of “foto MAGAZIN” from March 2005 (featuring the special: Black and White). Here’s a quote from the short piece on the XP2:
“…Ilford has discontinued the infrared-sensitive SFX 200, but has kept the best-selling XP2 on the market…”
Incidentally, this issue of foto Magazin (Black and White special) was quite informative. It contains quite a bit about black-and-white films. That’s also how I came across FOTOIMPEX and this forum.

Mehmet

Hello,
Here is the Ilford stock list:

Hello Thomas!
According to your list, the Ilford Microphen should be available by now.
But it isn’t, is it?...
Unfortunately.
My supplier is still at a loss and can’t get a definite answer as to when it will be available.
The response from Bon Image (the new distributor for Ilford products) isn’t very helpful either

Dear Mr Cati,
We expect production of MICROPHEN and ID-11 to resume next month, so both developers are likely to be available again in May.
Kind regards

That was in March. And no one has the Microphen developer for sale yet.
So the availability list doesn’t seem to be entirely accurate.
As I said, the SFX is almost out of stock, but the XP2 is still available.
I’ve just managed to get hold of two SFX units. That’s all.
I bought five XP2s a few days ago, and the Microphen was still unavailable.
