Hi everyone,
I was delighted to discover Adox Microfilm in the Catalogus maximus.
What is its sensitivity? ‘Normal’ Panchromatic, with reduced red sensitivity, or with increased red sensitivity? Is there a datasheet available to download somewhere? – And is it also available as roll film? Or will that come later, or perhaps not at all?

Unfortunately, I can’t comment on this from a trademark perspective.
However, this is one of the two well-known microfilms, which we are the only ones to cut to ‘standard’ photo formats.
Please note: this film is available in two versions, and this is the other one.
Unfortunately, the €25 annual turnover is not sufficient to create a data sheet...
Roll films require a different backing, so we cannot cut them from flat film stock.
Best regards,
Mirko

Hi Mirko,
Was that really true about the 25-euro turnover?
I can still remember very clearly how much of a fuss there was when the APX25 was discontinued and my photography dealer told me I was one of the very few people left using this film, which was now being so sorely missed. – Mind you, this wasn’t somewhere in the middle of nowhere, but in a major city.

Well, we do have a few more customers for a 25 ASA film.
But a microfilm with such high resolution that no lens in the world can even come close to reproducing it, with an effective 12 ASA despite the magic chemistry, is pretty much the most exotic item we have in our catalogue ;-)
Personally, I’m completely satisfied with the resolution of the ADOX/efke 50. I don’t need any higher resolution from sheet films, and I reckon most of you feel the same way.
Best regards,
Mirko

Hello Mirko.
You’re undoubtedly right there, as with medium-format film, the resolution of a 50 film is sufficient (one might even add that of a 100 film) – as a rule, at any rate. In another thread, I myself commented on the disadvantages of such technical films, and the fact that the ‘pathetic’ 12 ASA at slightly higher contrast is still there; I had some very sobering experiences with Technical Pan, which you can safely forget: you very quickly end up with exposure times straight out of the 19th century.
Nevertheless, such exotic films can certainly make sense. ADOX Microfilm will certainly not become my everyday, all-round film, but for a few applications in architectural photography, for example, it can certainly be useful.
I’m in Berlin for a few days at the moment, so I’ll pop round to see you. I hope you’ve got it in stock?
