Hi everyone,
I’ve got two packs of Calbe fixer A300 left, each of which still contains two separate sachets.
Why are there two sachets (of different sizes)? The ones sold today only come in a single sachet, don’t they?
How long does it actually keep, both once mixed and before mixing?
Thanks. Harald.

In principle, it lasts just as long as a fresh A300 fixer once it’s been prepared.
Otherwise, if it hasn’t been prepared yet, I reckon it’ll last quite a while.
I always prepare the 10-litre pack with 5 litres of water and then perform separate dilution for paper and film. In my experience, this – let’s call it ‘concentrate’ – is still fine after 2–3 months.

Hello Harald,
The thiosulphate is likely in one bag and the sulphite in the other, to protect against oxidation. Together, they can be stored until they either turn yellow or form a sediment/remain cloudy when dissolved. You only realise this once you’ve added a bit of water...
Best regards,
Franz
