Hello everyone,
I’m interested in the newer ADOX papers. I used to use Classic Arts Polykaltton Baryt, which is now being phased out.
From the description, I quite like the ADOX Fine Print Vario Classic FB. Has anyone tried this with Moersch SE1 Sepia? Can we expect results on a similar scale to what is said about Kentemere Fineprint VC?
Does the ADOX Easy Print Vario Classic PE actually have exactly the same emulsion as the ADOX Fine Print Vario Classic FB? That’s what the description suggests. Or can PE not be loaded with as much silver as baryta?
And one more thing: Mirko, do you also offer sample packs of papers – for example, the two papers mentioned above as a pack of 10 in 18x24?
Best regards,
Andreas

Andreas,
Sepia isn’t necessarily the best combination for a cool-toned paper.
It hadn’t even occurred to me to try that out.
Moersch has sent us lots of sample prints for all sorts of developers.
The iron blue toning and lith results were very nice – although the Vario Classic isn’t exactly an easy candidate for lith printing either.
Polywarmton is more suitable for these tone-shifting processes.
Separol HE seems to be Wolfgang’s favourite standard, as that’s what we received the most of.
Of course, everything from Moersch looks superb.
The silver content in the baryta emulsion (i.e. whilst it is still cooling in the tank) is the same as in the PE emulsion, but the baryta base absorbs more emulsion per square metre than PE, so the silver content of the PE paper is slightly lower.
Sample packs: are planned.
Best regards,
Mirko

Important information for everyone:
The bright orange Ilford lamp may fog the Vario Classic!
Our dark orange lamps are fine, as are most lamps that are red or brown.
Please, please, everyone, no matter what it says on the packet or on the lamp: new paper in my darkroom always means a new fogging test!
Mandatory! Must be done! No exceptions! Can’t be skipped!
If the test is negative and you’re unable to switch to red, we’ll also accept partially used paper where one sheet is missing.
However, anyone who sends in two almost empty packs with the note: "Haze test negative" will certainly not get two full packs of a different paper back
Many thanks +++

Hello Mirko,
The Moersch website features sample images of Kentmere Fineprint VC, which, although a cool-toned paper, is strongly recommended for SE1 Sepia. But I assume that Mr Moersch has tried out all possible combinations with the ADOX papers, which he also stocks. If it had been exceptionally successful with SE1, he would surely have mentioned it explicitly. If the paper works well with Separol HE, that’s already something. An inexpensive, excellent developer.
Could you please let us know somewhere on your website if sample packs are available? A pack of 100 is certainly good value if you know what you’re getting – but as a test, it’s too much for me at the moment, even though I’d like to believe in the quality of the papers.
Thanks for the replies otherwise.
Andreas
