I’ve bought an ADOX ADOLIGHT 20 studio lighting kit. I also bought the ADOLIGHT
daylight spiral lamp and the ADOSOFT softbox cover for the ADOLIGHTS. Now here’s the problem: the spiral lamp is too long, meaning it sticks out of the reflector. This means I can’t fit the softbox cover!
Question: Can I use the softbox cover with a 250W quartz halogen lamp? Or will the cover melt?
Does anyone have experience with the Adolight 20 and the softbox cover? I really need some help.
Thanks for your help!

Hello Martin,
Unfortunately, that’s correct. Quartz halogen bulbs or a transmitted light diffuser are better suited for the small reflectors.
Of course, you can use the cover with quartz halogen bulbs, but only for short periods at a time, otherwise the bulb may overheat.
If you don’t need to rely on daylight, a diffuser combined with the more powerful quartz halogen lamp will naturally give better results.
Best regards,

Won’t the enamel melt if I use a quartz halogen lamp?
MirkoBoeddecker
As I said before: continuous use could lead to overheating.
No cases of the product ‘melting’ have been reported so far. The products are designed for use with quartz halogen bulbs.

PS
My advice would still be: send the product back and buy a white diffuser. If you want soft light, this product isn’t very helpful. It mainly increases uniformity, but the illumination circle remains limited to 20–30 cm (for shadow-free light).
The light-emitting surface must always be larger than the object for shadow-free illumination.

Thanks for the tip.
So, I’ll buy some more halogen bulbs (perhaps slightly less powerful ones, 150 or 200 W) and use them. I’ll probably get a lampshade as well.

I’ve just finished a two-hour portrait session and the Adolight lamps were in constant use. With the halogen bulb inside and the diffuser fitted. It went absolutely smoothly and the light was exactly as I wanted it.
These lamps offer excellent value for money.
