Yes, that’s possible. But we’re still looking for a solution for the freight costs. As for the glass panels: they’re very expensive. The deal can only go ahead with external financing – try telling that to your bank :blink: Mirko

Hi Mirko, I’d love to hear from you as soon as you’ve added the POP to your range. I reckon I’ll still be able to afford that (I hope). As for the glass plates, I think it’ll be a while before I can afford them on my own (the prices probably won’t differ significantly from Wephota’s). Best regards, Martin

I received an email today saying that 9x12 glass plates are now available. Unfortunately, the prices haven’t been finalised yet. POP: For a long time, only 18x24 was available. But nobody wanted that. Retro has had other sizes in stock again for a few days now. Which sizes are you interested in? Best regards, Mirko

Hello, While we’re on the subject of retrophotography, I’ve noticed that Fomadon P is listed as being equivalent to ID 11, D76 and ORWO F19 – perhaps you could make this available to your German customers as well. I would prefer to use Foma ID 11 as an alternative to Kodak – simply because I have more confidence in Foma to ensure this developer will still be available in a few years’ time – provided, of course, that someone buys it. As for the glass plates, how are they actually sensitised? Is the gradient suitable for pictorial photography, and do they offer reasonable antihalation? By the way, what is the DIN rating of the plates? (If I’ve simply missed the details on Retrophotographic, a brief mention would suffice) I’d be interested, if at all; actually, 9x12 or 13x18 sheet film is enough for me as it is. Roland

I’ve tried both – POP and glass plates. POP was available in 13x18 and 8x10", glass plates only in 9x12cm. The plates are Slavich PFN-01 "izooptochromatish". The packaging says GOST 160; I found it to be around ISO 25 in Pextral Zeibad developer – FP4+ gives 140 or thereabouts.

ID 11 / D76: we are currently developing our own version. Production is expected to start in May, alongside the Perceptol. Better and cheaper than Foma and the others. Best regards, Mirko

PFN-01 – technical negative photoplates are intended for portrait, landscape, architectural, subject and other technical surveys in black-and-white photography. There are four types according to spectral response: isoptochromatic, isochromatic, panchromatic, isopanchromatic.

If this is the same material, then the material on offer does not appear to be panchromatic, although such material does exist. However, I’m not sure what ‘izooptochromatical’ means (perhaps even unsensitised), let alone why they don’t simply offer the panchromatic plates. However, it seems to be a technical, high-contrast material, as 160 GOST is normally more than 23 DIN, and if you then effectively only get 15 DIN, that suggests a lot. If you were otherwise satisfied with the plates, then perhaps I could give it a go? Roland

The plates are Slavich PFN-01, ‘Izooptochromatic’. So not red-blind. Unfortunately, I don’t know the exact specifications. I’m satisfied – so far I’ve only exposed four, and all in the Norwegian winter: no colours, just white and whiter (and a bit of grey, black and blue).
