Good morning,
I tried Efke 25 in PMK a few months ago; I really like it, but I’ve now run out of the developer and I don’t want to use it any more for the same reasons (toxicity and the difficulty of preparing it).
For other films I use X-TOL and I’m happy with the results, but for Efke 25 I’m looking for greater sharpness.
Do you think Paterson Acutol is a good choice?

For sharpness, we recommend the following developers:
ADOX APH09
Neofin Blaue
Acutol
New Spur HRX II (not yet available)
ADOX ADX (not yet available: sharpness plus fine grain)

All the developers Mirko suggests are suitable for Efke 25, a wonderful film.
You could also give Pyrocat a try – it’s a pyrocatechin developer that’s easy to use and produces reliable results.
