I’m thinking about developing my own films! But is it worth it if you only shoot 5–6 rolls a month? And how much do the chemicals cost? I’m just getting started with analogue photography, and if anyone knows of a good book with lots of pictures to explain the process, that would be a huge help. Thanks in advance!!

For C41 (colour negative) development: €0.75 per film
For black-and-white film: €0.20 to €0.35 per film
This price covers chemicals only.
Six films a month is certainly worth it, not to mention better quality, no scratches or other defects, and no risk of films going missing, etc.

Thanks for the quick reply!!
And where can I buy the chemicals – just for using colour developing agents for now!! In any photo shop?
MirkoBoeddecker
Well, you can of course buy something like that from us at www.FOTOIMPEX.de
But colour development isn’t as straightforward as black and white, and from a purely financial point of view, it’s certainly not the most attractive option.
It really should be about quality and the sheer enjoyment of it; otherwise, the development voucher from Saturn is the cheaper option.

@Saturn
You can even see the streaks in the picture...
Isn't that great?

What sort of costs should I expect for colour development? Just so I have a rough idea, and what sort of solutions do I need for that? I’ve had a look online and there’s loads of information, but it doesn’t always say what you actually need and what you don’t!! :ph34r: I’d be interested in both black and white and colour! Thanks

@ Micha: It’s just cheap...
@ Compiman: Have you had a look at the relevant pages in our catalogue?

No, not yet, but I’ve just downloaded it and will have a proper look at it. Thanks
