Hello everyone! What happens if I leave the film in the Bleach bath for too short a time during reversal film development? I’ve developed a Double Super 8 film using Fomadon developer and prepared the other solutions exactly as listed on the FOTOIMPEX website under Fomapan. Another table I used as a guide stated that the film should only be bleached for one minute, but FOTOIMPEX said 5 minutes. Now my film has remained negative in the bright areas, even though I double-exposed it for five minutes. Could this be related to that? Best regards from Münster Thomas

Hello Thomas, It is essential to stick to the specified bleaching and clearing times (important!). Leaving it in a little longer won’t do any harm either. I process Fomapan R according to the AGFA/ORWO guidelines (see, for example, www.grosskabinett.de for instructions), bleaching in a dichromate bath for at least 3 minutes (this converts all the metallic silver), washing for 5 minutes, then clearing in a 5% sodium sulphite solution for 5 minutes, followed by a 5-minute washing. Hi Thomas, That’s probably why. Another important thing to remember when bleaching is to ensure there’s enough agitation. Have a look at Kodak’s website for information on reversal processing. There’s a useful data sheet there: http://wwwde.kodak.com/global/en/professio...4.7.32.14&lc=en which describes the agitation process well – even if it isn’t the Kodak chemistry. Best regards, Robert
