Hello, Through its trading partner, FOTOIMPEX has excellent connections in the USA. Has there ever been any thought of importing Acufine and Diafine developers from there? Best regards, Ferdinand

Ferdinand, You’ll find the Paterson chemicals on page 13 of the new catalogue at http://www.fotoimpex.de/catalogus_novus_impexus.pdf . These developers are a good alternative to Diafine and Acufine. Unfortunately, it is not that easy to import consumer products of chemical origin into the scope of European consumer protection legislation. So far, all US manufacturers have turned us down when we faxed them the labelling requirements. (11 pages of different languages and logos; Switzerland is making a fuss again; the Slovaks complain if there’s only Czech text, etc.......). The solution I could offer would be a direct purchase via our partner company, which can send small parcels directly on relatively favourable terms. Mirko

Mirko, Thanks for the information. I’ve already taken note—with some irritation—that you stock Paterson chemicals :angry: . By the way, I’d recommend FX-39 to anyone who feels their TMAX100 shots aren’t as sharp as they could be otherwise. When it comes to Diafine (a very straightforward two-bath developer), however, there’s no alternative to Paterson (or anywhere else). Best regards, Ferdinand

I bought a few bottles of Acufine and Acufine Replenisher for myself in the US. The company that still produces it is BKA in Chicago (Vernon Hill). I still use this developer for push processing my Tri-X and HP5. It used to be used by all the press photographers. Unfortunately, there are now the European agreements that Mirko mentioned.
