Hello everyone,
Has anyone here ever used Classic Pan 200 sheet film?
I’m getting far too much base fog in A 49, even at N+1 (0.5 D!!).
Does anyone have any tips? Perhaps a different developer or something...
Strangely enough, this isn’t the case with roll films. (Meeekw?dich....)
See you soon,
Thomas R.

Thomas,
How old is the film, and how was it stored?
Is it the old emulsion or the new one?
How did you measure it?
Best regards,
Mirko

Hi Mirko,
There’s no mention of ‘New’ on the box; it’s just a plain white box with a small sticker on it. It was stored in a cool place, and I bought it about two months ago.
I used a transmission densitometer called a Macbeth TD to take the measurements. (It’s calibrated.)
I developed it in A 49 using a rotary developer.
Perhaps you know more about this...
Regards, Thomas

Hi Thomas,
If you bought it two months ago and it’s a standard format, it must be new (probably dated 2005 or 2006).
If it was stored in a cool place, that can’t be the reason either.
We had a similar case once with a film that was about three years old. But that one had an old emulsion.
With a fresh film, I can’t explain it at the moment.
The base is darker – that’s why I asked about the measurement (i.e. that you didn’t zero the relatively clearer roll film base and then hold the sheet film underneath it).
I’ll ask the manufacturer if anything has come to light. But I’ll need your emulsion number for that.
Best regards,
Mirko

Hello Mirko,
The emulsion number is 0312302. The film is dated until 2006.
