Astrid
Hello,
I’m looking for multigrade film filters for the filter drawer of my Homrich 13x18 enlarger. The drawer measures approximately 20 x 25 cm (I’ll need to measure it again to be sure).
Are these available anywhere?
Thanks and best regards, Astrid
Gast
Hello Astrid,
I’ve never heard of filters of this size anywhere. One alternative would be to use the filters under the lens; you needn’t worry about any deterioration in image quality. It also makes split exposures easier, as the filters can be changed without causing any camera shake.

Ferdinand

Astrid,
For cases like this, we offer filter sheets that you can cut to size yourself.
It’s a bit of an exclusive, specialist product that we have to source from elsewhere – so please don’t complain about the price.
The standard size is 50x60 cm at €33.00 per sheet.
All 5 gradients are available.
Alternative: Use a filter under the lens as described above.
Our €9 complete set will suffice for that.
Best regards,
Mirko

Hello Mirko and Ferdinand,
First of all, thanks for the tip. I’ve spotted the filter sheets in the catalogue. Is there something like a filter holder for them?
Thanks and best regards
Astrid.

Astrid,
Ilford do sell this set with a holder, but it’s quite expensive.
It’s really nothing more than standard film sheets somehow fitted into a plastic frame.
What’s more, the diameter is too small (150 mm) for some long-focus, fast lenses.
Your best bet is to make something yourself or repurpose the (hopefully) existing red filter.

Mirko

Hmm... as far as I know, the sheets from the 'standard' Ilford Multigrade filter set can also be cut to size... I reckon they'd cost around 30 euros (for all the gradients together, not per sheet)

Stefan,
but they aren’t 20x25 cm in size!!
The small set for cutting yourself costs just 9 EUR here too....
Then there’s another one for 15x15 cm, also just under 30 EUR.
The sheets of film mentioned are 50x60 (!) cm.
You can make quite a few 9x9 sets out of that....
Best regards,
Mirko

Hi
Hmm, unless I’m missing something, it looks like the small Multigrade filters aren’t in the new catalogue – am I right in thinking that you still have them (priced at around €9)? Best regards,
Mathias

Mathias,
There are many items that aren’t listed in the new catalogue but are still available.
As for the filters, we haven’t received any clear answers from the manufacturer regarding larger filters.
This page will therefore only be finalised after Photokina.
Accessories for older Meos models are also no longer listed, but are available.
Fomaspeed fixed gradient and Fomatone PE are also still available, but we need to clarify definitively at the trade fair which sizes, gradients and finishes are available. These pages will also be added later.
It’s best to always give us a call and ask.
Best regards,
Mirko

We've agreed on it today: we'll be offering 25x25 cm filter sets!
At a reasonable price.

My bad... I somehow missed the size :-)

We’ve agreed today: there will be 25 x 25 cm filter sets!
At a reasonable price.

Hello Mirko,
1. Is it already clear when these sets will be available?
2. Will these 25 x 25 sets only include full stops or half stops as well?
Until then, I was planning to make do with the small 9x9 filters. The new catalogue features a Paterson set with the intermediate grades. The dispatch department told me that this is no longer available. Why does the set appear in the catalogue for the first time and then become unavailable?
Thanks and best regards
Astrid
PS: The Paterson washer has arrived. Thanks again for your tips and information!

Hi Astrid,
Either the postman needs a break or the catalogue is a few days ahead of schedule...
That’s my guess, anyway. Don’t worry about it. Whatever Mirko says he’ll deliver, he will. And if not, he’ll let us know.
Best regards,
Franz

Hello Astrid,
Uncle Paterson promised me at Photokina that this item could be included in the next delivery.
I can’t quite remember why we didn’t include it last time.
It was either too expensive or unavailable at the time.
Now it’s definitely available and the price is right, so we’ve added it.
However, as long as the goods aren’t on the shelves yet (the ‘see, feel, hear, smell, taste’ principle), it’s still possible that some dispatch staff might deny the existence of this offer...
I reckon there’ll be a 3–4 week transition period.
The 25x25 cm sets are still in progress. The raw slabs need to be cast first, etc. So far, only the basic availability at a calculated price has been confirmed.
Best regards,
Mirko
