GerdK Hello Mirko, I have an Opemus 6a from you, fitted with a Color 3 colour mixing head. The head contains a 100 W halogen lamp. I often find that I get below 3 seconds for black-and-white enlargements and around 5 seconds for colour enlargements (already stopped down to f/8 at 18x24cm). This means I have to use the density screen every time. However, I need that for exposure compensation with contrast-reversal paper. So my question is: do you have a weaker lamp that is suitable for the Opemus 6a (B&W and colour) and, of course, doesn’t have a ‘colour cast’? I’d like to get down to about 5 seconds for B&W and about 10 seconds for colour. Thanks, Gerd
MirkoBoeddecker Gerd, Why not just use the 6x6 mixing chamber for 35mm and the 6x9 mixing chamber for 6x6? You can’t use a different bulb because of the colour cast. We also have neutral-grey plastic filters that can be mounted under the lens – if necessary. For 35mm film, I always work with a 6x6 mixing chamber and an 80mm lens – but I also have a Magnifax where there’s still some ‘headroom’ at the top for the extension. Best regards, Mirko
Gast Hello, Just stop down to f/11 or f/16 – there’s practically no difference in quality – or increase the dilution of the developer, or use a less sensitive type of paper. Werner
cfb_de Hello Werner, <PRAYER wheel>Changing the developer won’t help. SW papers need to be fully developed; otherwise, maximum density won’t be achieved.</PRAYER wheel> My DIY setup for Meochrom/Opemus-5 should work with the newer models too: just fit a dimmer into the circuit and set it to the desired exposure levels. Okay, the colour temperature of the lamp changes slightly, but that can be compensated for using gradation filters. You just need to have two or three tables in the darkroom. Best regards, Franz
GerdK Gerd, Why not just use the 6x6 mixing chamber for KB and the 6x9 mixing chamber for 6x6? ...Thanks Mirko, Werner and Franz, I like the simplest solution best and I’ll give that a go. Have a lovely day, everyone Gerd
