Hello, I’d like to try out the Tura P100 in Calbe A49, which I exposed at 21°/100. Whilst looking up development times, I came across two different times on the Impex website. Firstly, I found a time of 9–11 minutes (developer table A49) and, secondly, a table with a time of 5.75 (5:45 minutes?) (developer table ‘other films’). Agitation rhythm: ‘Agitate for the first 30 seconds, then agitate for the first 10 seconds of every minute thereafter’ In another forum, I found a time of 7 minutes with a 60-second agitation cycle. Using an online development time calculator, I got a time of 8:30 minutes with a 60-second agitation cycle. I couldn’t find this combination on digitaltruth. All at 20°C "operating temperature". I find the difference between these figures quite significant. Which time would be more likely to be correct? I would use the A49 as a stock solution for a single-use developer and agitate it myself. I’m open to suggestions regarding the agitation rate and would like to draw on the experience of others. Regards Carsten

Carsten, Just use the exposure times for the Saalestäter chemical plant for the Agfa APX 100; that should be fine, as it comes in Tura canisters. The only issue might be that the APX 100 is due to be/has been revised, so there could be two different sets of exposure times. Werner

Hi Carsten, If you have a bit of a look around online, you might find a few more exposure times. With the A49, I’ve always worked with a 1:1 dilution using exactly the midpoint of the extension factors given on the data sheet (this has always worked so far with every film, i.e. Ilford HP5+, FP4+, Delta 100 and 400, Fuji Neopan 400 and 1600). Agitated for the first minute at 3-second intervals and then just once a minute. All the films were exposed at their nominal sensitivity. Only the Neopan 1600 comes out a bit steep – but given what I’m shooting with it, that suits me just fine. For a first attempt, this should definitely produce something usable. So in your case: Tura = Agfa = 10 minutes * 1.4 = 14 minutes. From there, you can then fine-tune the settings to suit your specific conditions. Best regards Robert

Thanks so much for the replies! Actually, I thought that perhaps a few more people here might have experience with this combination (No, I wasn’t expecting the ‘ultimate’ solution! :( I suppose I’ll have to film a whole video then… somewhere between storms and other severe weather we’re having here in the region at the moment… and then test it at different times.
