Hello,
I’ve bought a second-hand DUKA. It comes with a yellow darkroom lamp. Until now, I’d only ever seen red light in darkrooms. Does yellow work as well? What’s the difference?
Thanks and best regards,
Tillmann

Hello Tilmann,
For some papers (e.g. Kodak Polymax or Ilford MG4), you can also use pale yellow light.
The advantage is that the light is brighter and the image does not appear as high-contrast under DUKA light as it does under red light.
However, other papers (e.g. Classic) become hazy under this light.
So, if you’re not sure, you should use red light and reserve the pale yellow light only for papers that can definitely handle it. Also, always carry out a haze test when using a new DUKA paper combination!
Best regards,
Mirko
