For Valentine’s Day lovers, PhotoWerkBerlin is transforming its studio on Sanderstraße in Berlin-Neukölln into a wet-plate portrait studio.
What are wet plates or tintypes? A sort of 19th-century Polaroid. Using historical cameras, photographs are captured on wet plates, which develop their distinctive aesthetic as they dry. This historic process has lost none of its magic. The portraits on glass, crafted with great care and skill, are extremely durable and, alongside their charm, have a timeless quality. A perfect gift for your loved ones.
Give a portrait of yourself, a session for your loved one, or have your portrait taken together. A wet plate is not just a picture, but a real experience. Something that stops time and endures the moment.
American wet plate photographer David Puntel will be taking portraits on 13 or 14 February 2016 from 10 am to 5 pm. A session lasts a maximum of 30 minutes. We look forward to seeing your accessories, costumes or whatever else you’d like to have photographed. The main thing is that you have fun. A glass of sparkling wine or apple spritzer is included.
