Hello,
I’ve tested the Fomapan 100, T200 and 400 roll films with Classic F09 and Calbe A49.
In A49 1+1 for 13 minutes, agitating once every 15 seconds at 2 DIN below the recommended density, the densities were correct for the fog, but the mid-tones were too high at 0.8, and the final densities in Zone VIII did not exceed 1.1–1.15, contrary to the data sheets.
With F09 1+40 for 8 minutes and the same agitation as A49, I don’t even get past the threshold of 0.01–0.02, and the final density ends up at 0.85–1.05.
I process Foma 100 with good results as a sheet film in F09.
Who can help?
Thomas

Thomas,
Try using A49 without 1+1 (i.e. the stock solution) or F09 1+20.
Generally speaking, Foma causes a bit of clipping. The Classic is better suited for zone system work.
Foma is great for 35mm and standard work, because the compression means enlargements develop more quickly and the highlights are already defined.
Classic 200 in PMK or ABC would probably be the best choice for you.
Have a look at APUG.ORG too.

Hi Mirko,
Thanks a lot for your reply; I’d already thought about development in stock solution.
With the A49, what puts me off is development of several films in the same bath.
I originally wanted to try the Classic. A Fotoimpex employee recommended the Foma instead, as he thought the Classic was too steep, but what about the zone system? Well, perhaps I didn’t make my working with the zone system clear enough.
But I’ll test it now and find out more about the developers you suggested.
