Hi everyone,
I have an old Liesegang enlarger (Rax or something like that) and have bought a Meopta Anaret 80mm and a Rodenstock Ysaron 50mm for it. The lenses are mounted on a plate into which each lens is inserted and screwed in place.
With the standard Liesegang lens, this is done using a sort of nut.
I’d like to do the same for the other two lenses (Anaret and Ysaron). A friend has made a plate for each lens (as they have different thread sizes), so now I just need the ‘nuts’ to go with them.
Can anyone help me find out where I can get hold of these?
Or does anyone have a better idea?
Thanks in advance
Franz

Hello!
Check the thread size of the lenses – newer macro lenses have an M39 thread, whilst some older ones have an M25 thread. If you can’t find a suitable nut at a specialist metal shop, get yourself a filter adapter ring (specifically a step-down ring, not a step-up ring) with an M39 filter thread; the lens thread doesn’t matter (just make sure it’s not too small, otherwise it might cause vignetting); or even simpler: there are adapter rings available for using M39 lenses on M42 cameras; these should be suitable for your purposes. I’ve seen them cheaply on eBay from various Russian sellers, but they should be available elsewhere too.

Hi Franz,
For the Anaret, you can get an adapter ring to M39 from Impex; you can then simply use that with the Liesegang to counterbalance it – that’s what I do, and it works a treat.
With the Ysaron, you’ll actually need to measure the thread, but I reckon it’ll be M39 anyway. For M39, any decent dealer should be able to get you a counter ring, as Schneider and Rodenstock supply their lenses with them as standard. The only important thing is that the thread fits; you’ll just have to see which works out cheaper for you: a filter thread ring, as Roman already mentioned, or the counter ring.
Regards, Sven.
