Hello!
I have a Minolta 3.5–5.6/28–28 D here. At the shorter focal lengths, from 50 to 28 mm, it grinds and sticks a bit.
Is there anything that can be done about this? I’ve noticed there are a few small screws at the back of the lens. Is it worth taking the risk of taking the lens apart to fix the problem?
Thanks for any advice!

Hello,
You could certainly do that if you’re prepared to accept that it might be a write-off.
If you can live with the scratches, then just leave it as it is or sell it as an heirloom.
However, there are also precision engineering and optical workshops that know what they’re doing.

Well, I reckon you could get a decent second-hand replacement lens for about 30 quid. So, provided you’re handy, you could have a go at opening it up.

I can only encourage you to take a screwdriver and some oil with you.
You can always throw it away if it doesn’t work.
I’ve already managed to get four out of five lenses working perfectly again this way.
But I did manage to ruin one in the process!
