Hello, lovers of vintage photography!
I’ve just bought a roll of film for my 1930s Kodak DN8 camera. Here’s a question that only a complete beginner would ask:
Do I need to load it in the darkroom? And do I need to rewind it in the dark as well?
Thanks!

No, it wasn’t necessary, but the lighting should be subdued.
The film is wound in a ‘self-masking’ configuration. Light-tight side covers and the antihalation coating on the film surface provide ‘self-protection’.
The first few layers still let light through, but after that nothing gets through.
When you project the film afterwards, it starts out white on your screen and then fades in naturally.

Mirko
