They have everything, but it’s a question of quantity.
They won’t bother for just a few rolls.
There hasn’t been enough demand so far.

Up to now, film sold by the metre has always been cheaper than standard rolls, and as I’m a developer who also handles the reeling, I’d be interested in a quote.

I’ve just been in touch with Foma to enquire.
They’ll look into it. However, as we had a lot to discuss, it might take a while.
It won’t necessarily make it any cheaper; in fact, it’s likely to be more expensive, as it will be treated as a separate item.
I thought you had a suitable film magazine.
Foma charges very little for packaging per metre. Overall, I’m afraid the saving will be minimal, as the work involved in the can, reel, gluing and cutting remains the same.

Well, that’s how I’m already doing it with DS8. I bought a 30m reel of DS8 from you for 25 euros and rewound it myself onto three 10m reels, which saves me 5 euros compared to buying them individually. After all, 5 euros is 10 DM. I don’t know what prices Forma has in mind, but for 16mm b/w I’ve got a quote from Kahl of 68 euros net. That wouldn’t be much of a saving compared to buying them individually, but it’s something at least. The price was just an example and is subject to change at any time. I just like to build up a small stock of film, because as you can see, you don’t have any 16mm material available from mid-August to the end of October either.

Kahl films aren’t really comparable and can certainly be cheaper.
Foma produces genuine direct-positive REVERSAL FILMS on a clear base with special, sophisticated anti-halation technology. The films have a finer grain and a higher effective speed than the Filmotec material offered by Kahl (Forte Film manufactured by Filmotec).
Foma films are also KODAK process-compatible and produced under ISO 9002 quality management.
I’m afraid we don’t want to get into a ‘price war’ there, and we’d lose anyway.
Fomapan will probably always be a little more expensive than Fortepan.
But on the other hand, the 120m roll also costs less than buying individual sheets.
If 5–10 euros is enough for you, then we’re on the same page. I just wanted to let you know straight away that it won’t be 30% or thereabouts.
As soon as we know anything, we’ll let you know.

I would be happy with the price, provided that foma still produces narrow-gauge film at all, as you haven’t had any 16mm film (single-perforated) available in your shop since August 2003.

We’ve received three deliveries of 16mm film since August.
You must have been unlucky enough to visit the shop at a quiet time.
Our pre-order lead times with Foma are 2–3 months.
That means even if we were to place a large order for this material today, the goods wouldn’t arrive for another 3 months. That’s why it’s incredibly difficult for us to always have everything in stock as it should be.
One of our staff members spends day and night working out these lead times and calculates order quantities in December for the end of March.
With exotic products like these reversal films, this has a greater impact than with standard goods, where we know we can definitely sell them off before the expiry date.
I’ve just checked the shelf and there are 20 sheets with single-sided perforation and 3 with double-sided perforation. A delivery has just arrived today.
