Dear all,
I am urgently looking for a filter drawer (or a conversion kit for one) for a Teufel enlarger (model Teufel VG 6x6) on behalf of a close friend who has been in the business for 50 years and produces outstanding black-and-white prints. This is due to a potentially imminent, involuntary switch to variable-contrast paper. I would be grateful for any helpful information (where to buy, possible compatibility issues or tips for a DIY solution).
I am aware of the solution involving filters under the lens, but this is only being considered as a stopgap measure.
Thanks in advance.

Thomas,
I can’t offer you a ready-made ‘DIY solution’, but whatever you put together should meet three requirements:
1) The filter must be placed between the light source and the upper condenser lens (Case 1) or between the condenser lenses (Case 2).
2) In case 1, it must be at least as large as the condenser (in case 2, it lies in the ‘aperture plane’ of the condenser and can therefore be slightly smaller).
3) Your mounting mechanism should be able to be sealed to prevent light leakage.
There’s really no magic to it...
Good luck!

... oh, just one more thing: if the filters get too dense near the light source, they can burn or melt if you don’t fit a heat-resistant glass cover over them....
