Hello everyone,
I tried developing a reversal film for the first time at the weekend. I used Fomapan 100 R with the accompanying kit and followed the specified times exactly.
Unfortunately, the film has turned brown and has remained negative.
What did I do wrong?
Best regards, Dieter

Hi Dieter,
This might be a silly question, but did you do the reverse exposure as well?
Best regards,
Michael

Hello,
Of course I did a double exposure, but probably not enough. In future, I’ll use my projector for double exposures (500W through the lens).
What do you think?
Best regards – Dieter

Hi Dieter,
It looks like I’m not the only one having problems.
When did the film turn brown, or rather, what did the film look like after the developer? If it’s still really brown, then the developer time was too short, or the concentration too weak!
I’ve also got another problem now:
I’ve got bright spots in the blacks, but only in the middle of the film. Strangely enough, this only affects the middle of the film (in terms of the number of frames, e.g. frames 13 to 27). It looks as though there wasn’t enough light. (100 W reflector bulb, 5 mins on each side, 5 mm water level above the spiral, distance from bulb to water level 2 cm, standard Jobo spiral)
Otherwise, the result is excellent!
Perhaps a quick note on the Bleach bath solutions:
Component A:B = 1:1
Component A: 150 ml 15% sulphuric acid + 250 ml water
Component B: 2 g potassium permanganate + 500 ml water
Processing time 5 mins.
And the stop bath:
Dissolve 25 g anhydrous sodium sulphite in 400 ml water and then make up to 500 ml.
Exposure time 3 mins.
Perhaps someone here can help me.
Best regards
Robert
