Hello,
My name is Markus and I’m delighted to have finally found an informative black-and-white photography forum here.
Here’s my question, which the keyword search hasn’t helped me with:
About a year ago, I bought several sachets of Adofix P, which I’m only now planning to use. It seems this powder is no longer available.
What are the fixing times for Adofix P powder developer for film/PE paper and for baryta paper? And: Is this powder developer suitable for baryta paper (rinse times)?
I can only find references to Adofix II or Adofix Plus online.
High-contrast regards, Markus

Hi Markus,
A warm welcome to the forum.
The fixing times for films vary and depend on the specific emulsion of the film.
That’s why the safest approach is to determine the film’s clearing time in advance.
For black-and-white films, you can use part of the leader for this.
The fixing time for papers is not so easy to determine.
I fix my papers using the ‘two-bath method’. The second fixing bath is always (relatively) fresh.
My times are 5 and 5 minutes.
However, I avoid rapid fixers.
Best regards,
Klaus

Hi Klaus,
Thanks for the tip and the welcome. I’ll have a bit of a play around with it this weekend.
By the way, ADOX has now replied to my query, saying that the processing times are the same as for Adofix II.

The instructions for ADOFIX PII also apply to ADOFIX I: https://www.adox.de/Photo/a300/
It is a rapid-setting adhesive. We already had a change in the formulation for the A300 back in the 2000s.
Best regards,
Mirko
