The ADOX team is delighted to offer a completely new silver gelatine product for the analogue darkroom: the Polywarmtone emulsion.
The formula for this legendary Forte photographic paper would have been lost in the digital revolution had ADOX not rescued the production technology. After ten years of development work, ADOX has succeeded in recreating this beige-green, high-resolution emulsion with its authentic vintage look and outstanding toning behaviour.
Due to COVID travel restrictions, our coating trials in Switzerland were delayed last year, which is why the Polywarmtone Photo Emulsion (PWE) is now being launched on the market before the actual paper.
After just a few tests, the new product won over our team. All the advantages of genuine Polywarmtone paper are also present in the emulsion. Sharpness, tonal richness, a natural warm tone and very high brilliance are also found on self-coated paper or textiles.
The emulsion can also be applied to other substrates: wood, stone, glass.
The ADOX team looks forward to seeing many perfect results and darkroom experiments.
Technical information:
A fixed gradation of 2.5 has been chosen as it allows for the perfect reproduction of most negative contrasts. The contrast depends on the amount of emulsion applied. Applying more emulsion can slightly increase the contrast. One bottle is sufficient for 2.5–3 square metres.
Accessories: EMH-1 hardener and COLLOIDA C photographic gelatine:
Alongside the PWE, Adox is also introducing the new EMH-1 hardener, which can be used as a separate hardening bath or simply added to the stop bath.
Colloida C photographic gelatine is a special casting gelatine which improves the adhesion of the emulsion to the substrate and acts as a release agent on absorbent substrates.
