The Times They Are a-Changin’
I’ve been online since the days of Compuserve. Back then, it was possible to retrieve and post information (text) using a 2400-baud modem. Yes, times have changed; broadband connections allow for high data transfer rates and, with them, images, videos and so on.
But ....
Why does the software industry increasingly feel the need to replace readable, information-focused layouts with garish, bloated, attention-grabbing designs?
Is this perhaps a consequence of the declining reading ability or willingness to read in today’s society?
For me, the new layout in this forum is not an improvement.
I’ll stick with the old layout (even if it causes problems).
Best regards,
Klaus

The development from the modem era to the broadband era has been impressive, but the cluttered layout of much modern software often makes it difficult to read. It’s a shame that the focus on attractive design sometimes gets in the way of conveying information. I understand your desire to keep the old layout – sometimes less is more!
