You seem to have something called King Film Mono 50. Unfortunately, there are no further details, apart from the fact that it’s supposedly a black-and-white film in 135-36 format and rewound Kodak cinema film. However, I’m not aware of any Kodak black-and-white cinema film with a speed of 50. Or does the ‘50’ have nothing to do with the speed and is it actually Double-X?

I can’t remember either. Our buyer managed to get hold of it. You’ll have to give it a go.

But to do that, you’d at least need to know how to achieve exposure and develop it. Are potential buyers supposed to experiment without any key information? At that price?

Exactly. They could just as easily buy the Cinestill BwXX. That sort of thing is included in the price there, but probably not here ;-) Only the manufacturer can know the details, not the retailer. We can only turn the cassette under the desk lamp, just like you ;-) I’ll have a go at that on Monday.

If this is supposed to be rewound black and white Kodak cinema film, it can only be Double-X or Tri-X, if my research is correct. Right? Edit: There are also quite a few low-speed Kodak photographic films. So it’s a bit of a guessing game. As long as the film’s speed isn’t known, I don’t think the film is for sale.

The film’s description below explains how it can be developed. XTOL for 5 minutes – probably the standard method. It looks quite interesting. As I’ve moved on from 35mm film, I won’t be testing it – a shame.
