Hi everyone, Does anyone know how I can use a calculator to work out the average of several exposure values? Example: I use my Gossen meter to take readings at five different points on the image I want to photograph, or I take readings at five points on the negative using the enlarger. I want to work out the average of these values. Can any of you tell me which formula to use? Thanks

In this case, the arithmetic mean is not used—i.e. (Time 1 + Time 2 ... + Time 5) / 5—but rather the geometric mean, i.e. the fifth root of (Time 1 * Time 2 ... * Time 5).

Mean = Sum of individual values / Number of individual values
