Hello. I’m planning to switch from 35mm to 120 roll film soon, and that raises an important question... how much longer do you think roll film will be available? I mean, Adox, Foma, Ilford, Kodak and the like do offer it. But I suspect that 35mm film performs significantly better. I currently have four projects that I’d like to shoot with the PSix.

Just because roll film is sold in smaller quantities doesn’t necessarily mean it’s about to be discontinued. It mainly depends on whether it’s profitable. And as long as there’s still sheet film available – which probably sells even less – don’t worry about it. Just keep shooting one 120 roll after another and help keep roll film alive.
Best wishes, Wolfgang

Hi there.
Go for the Ilford HP-5.
It's brilliant.

The question isn’t entirely without merit. One would have to add the phrase ‘industrial-grade’ to it.
You’ll always be able to wind a roll of film by hand somehow. Then the quality will just fluctuate again, as was recently the case with Fotokemika. The most modern machine was built in 1996. Back then, there were already control boards and Siemens S3s. That’s all well past EOL. Ours is cherished with great care. It does keep breaking down, but it works on the principle: one function = one sensor/transistor/actuator.
In principle, it can be repaired indefinitely.
Whether that’s economically viable is another matter.
If fewer and fewer rolls of film are sold and repairs to machines are due in the future (on average across the industry), this will (inevitably) affect the price per film.
Best regards, Mirko
