Hello ? My question isn’t really to do with the photo lab. But perhaps someone can still help me. I reel the film until I reach the start mark then, with the magazine closed, until frame 1 The first frame on the film is almost cut off After the 12th shot, there’s still room for one more shot. How can I change this? ? Looking forward to your tips ? Best regards, Undine

Hello Undine, You say it’s ‘almost’ cut. So is it complete? How regular are the gaps between the individual images? Slight irregularities (mm) are normal; larger ones (several mm) mean that the mechanism in the magazine needs servicing. It could also be that you had an older, unsuitable empty spool with too small a diameter in there. That does happen, you know. But now you have a newer, better one... Best wishes, Inge

What’s really niggling at me is that the reels used to be a tad thicker, which meant the film was always advanced a little further than it is today with newer, thinner reels. With most Pentacon Six cameras, for example, you can actually achieve an exposure of 13 frames on a single roll of film. € Furthermore, the film itself may also be the cause. Efke films (but others too) were often very poorly manufactured; the film would sometimes be stuck to the backing paper here and there. That never happened to me with the major brands. € Best regards, Reinhold

A few years ago, I ended up with a blank reel that was too thin when using my 500CM. Some of the images overlapped, and there was still space for another shot at the end of the film. That would fit with Undine’s description. Everything’s fine with the current reels. Best regards, Inge

Hi Undine, I don’t know anything about Hasselblads, but do you have a magazine like the one in the video, or an older one? If so, you could try following the Kiev instructions and looking through the viewfinder at the number 1 reel. http://www.kievaholic.com/filmloading.html ? Regards, Achim
