Hello!
If I have a Belar 4.5/75, do I need a separate 50mm lens for 35mm negatives?
Thanks for your advice!

Hi Mario!
?
Of course, you can also enlarge 35mm film with a 75mm lens (you just need enough space above for the enlarger head and will probably lose a bit of brightness). It just doesn’t work the other way round (enlarging medium format with a 50mm lens). But I wouldn’t bother with a Belar; I’d go straight for something proper (at least an Anaret from Meopta, or the six-element lenses from Schneider, Rodenstock or Nikon) – they don’t cost much these days if you have a look on eBay, for example!

I can highly recommend the Meopta Anarets. Although, as far as I know, they only have four lenses, they have excellent sharpness.

I often use the 75mm or 80mm on 35mm to 6x7 film.
It’s just pure laziness on my part. And my Krokus 3 provides enough light for that.

The only downside is that there is a greater distance between the lens and the build plate. In practice, this means you may have to limit the size of your print.
