We are receiving an increasing number of enquiries regarding the situation with CHS 100II sheet film. Unfortunately, we currently have no raw material available for the production of this film. We are dependent on the supply of components for the raw film. The supplier of these components has been in “insolvency or voluntary liquidation” for the past few years. In February, this status changed to “insolvency administrator managing the insolvency”. Since then, we have been waiting for a new quote for these components. We hope it will arrive soon and believe the delay is due to the fact that the administrator now has to countersign everything. At the same time, we are planning a major upgrade to our casting machine in Marly this year. We are working there with a machine component dating from the 1950s, which has been “on its last legs” for three years and keeps breaking down from time to time during coating. This results in metres of unsellable film. We actually wanted to run the CHS II through the machine one last time before the overhaul, but at the moment it looks more likely that this will only happen after the break (October).
Due to the many insolvencies and business closures among our suppliers, we at ADOX have focused increasingly in recent years on reducing these dependencies and being able to manufacture at least one product from each category entirely in-house. Our progress has been very good – as have the challenges. It could well be that the first product from this project arrives before the CHS II 😌
