Hi,

I’ve been using ADOX FX39 for a few years and I’ve never seen anything like this before – residue floating on top of the developer in the bottle. The bottle hadn’t been opened and was kept in the dark; it was a recent production batch. Shaking the bottle doesn’t dissolve the residue.

Please have a look at the attached photos and let me know if this developer is still usable? Or perhaps this batch of developer is contaminated or something similar and should be replaced?

If there are a few brown spots on the neck of the bottle but the developer itself is clear or slightly yellowish in colour, then everything is fine and you can use it to its full potential.
Only if crystals have formed at the bottom would I be cautious. What has happened here is that a few drops have stuck to the neck of the bottle and dried out. This happens all the time. You don’t see this in black bottles – only in our clear ones.
