Hi Joachim, I’ve never tried this combination. Unless otherwise stated, agitation is usually 30–60 seconds. Shake at the start, then for 5–10 seconds every full minute. Hopefully useful as a starting point for testing. Good luck, Georg. € Addendum: I dare to doubt whether the ISO 100/21 values given in the table are realistic. Even in standard developers, Fomapan 100 is one of the slowest 100-speed films.

Hello, So, when using Fomapan, would you recommend developing it for a bit longer than the times given in the table?

The appendix contains FOMA’s own recommendations. However, no mention is made here of any gains (Microphen) or losses (Perceptol) in sensitivity; presumably, exposure at the rated sensitivity is assumed in each case. € Personally, I can only comment on the Foma 100 + ID11/D76 1+1 combination. I haven’t measured the curves yet, but based on visual inspection, the result is flawless, so I would trust the table for other combinations for the time being. € Best regards € tepe

You can also develop the film for 30% longer, 30% shorter, pop to the loo or have a smoke in between, and forget all about that magical rhythm: you control the shadow detail solely through the exposure, and the brightness (‘coverage’) through the development. However, you can also easily adjust the difference in brightness between shadows and highlights (“gradient”) afterwards using image editing on a computer or with variable-contrast paper. You’ll have to do this (“post-production”) separately for each subject anyway, as the lighting will have been different for every picture. Here, a hocus-pocus formula (Film X in Developer Y at Time Z) has always been recommended down to the second, which is by no means necessary and is completely over-emphasised.
