Well, as far as the Meoptas are concerned, I suppose we’ll just have to get used to the approach taken by classic car enthusiasts: buying one or more enlargers for their parts and putting them into storage... :spudnikwowsers:
?
Okay, buying a Magnifax for 245 euros (currently on offer at that price on eBay) just to strip it for parts is a bit over the top, but aren’t the columns and, consequently, the gear drives interchangeable across certain models?
?
An Opemus 5 is still listed on eBay for 6 days with a minimum starting price, and a few others (‘smaller’ ones) are also on offer.
?
The ‘Team Foto’ shop on eBay has some spare parts on offer; perhaps you could enquire directly with them to see if they might have any more Meopta parts in stock.
?
And finally: there’s currently a Magnifax 4 (complete) listed on eBay Classifieds for 50 euros.
?
I’d give the latter a go. Okay, it’s quite a drive from Nairobi to Lüdenscheid, but surely you have friends or acquaintances in Germany?
?
Ah, and I’ve just found replacement gears for raising and lowering the Magnifax 4 in a shop in the UK. Original text:
?
Winding gears for the Magnifax 4. This pair of gears are located in the casting that moves the enlarger up and down the column.
It is important to note that if the gears are sheared, check the gear strip on the column as this could have caused the gears to become damaged.

7.66 British pounds, plus postage. As these seem to be exactly the parts you need, here’s the link to the product page:

Good luck!
