Foma has launched a new film which – particularly when used with the accompanying developer – is said to produce a distinctive retro look. I can’t tell from the sensitivity or the characteristic curves what exactly gives it that special look. Does anyone know more?

I’ve basically been asking myself this question for the last 15 years, every time I read a product description in the FOTOIMPEX catalogue. But if it helps keep the shop (and production) running, then fine by me :)

Yep, the spec sheet looks very similar to that of the Foma 400. In the spirit of AntiLinds: if you like it... But anyway, high-speed films already had that increased red sensitivity 80 years ago, with the result that the films are faster under artificial light, but faces can quickly end up looking chalk-white. Perhaps that’s what they mean by a retro look. Because there isn’t just one retro look, but many. But black and white is always ‘retro’, no matter what.
